I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it as has a lot of actionable content. I have already implemented some of his tips and cannot wait to see how I improve "Socially." I received the book Friday night and will be done by Monday morning as it is an easy read. This is my 4th book of Jeffrey Gitomer's and have been pleased which each and every one. My only disappointments with Social Boom! is that some of the content was written by other authors (the content is very strong though and on-point) and the fact that the book doesn't have the same high-quality production values with the cover and the pages (they don't have that nice glossy feel that I have come to expect.Great job, Jeffrey. Gitomer is one of the most insightful business leaders in America today. As usual his common sense style is laced with his spirited wit throughout Social Boom. If you are a small business owner, politician, or sales professional; I highly recommend you read this book and hope your competition doesn't.
I love the way that Gitomer writes in a non-nonsense, in your face style. He tells it they way it is and not what you may want to hear. Always takes it back to personal responsibility to do what you need to be doing.If you are not using Social Media fully, and you're probably not, then this book is a must read. In Jeffrey Gitomer's usual no-nonsense style he outlines all of the main opportunities that Social Media is creating for businesses today. I learnt so much about Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter to help me establish a whole new presence for my business, and he explains it in simple to understand and very practical language! Highly recommend it to other '50 years olds' who don't realise that we have to get our head out of the sand and catch up with all of the latest technology for business in 2013!!
I've been a big fan of Gitomer for many years; following him for over a decade now with his articles and site. What I like best about Social Boom! is his focus on helping us see how to leverage the various social networking sites properly, in context for personal positioning, credibility, networking and sales success.Like he does so eloquently for sales professionals, helping folks see how to position themselves correctly ("when a prospect googles you, what do they see?") via value-added content... in Social Boom he does a great job of showing how to use the various sites correctly, in a professional context.For many entrepreneurs like me, sure I've got a bit going on with twitter and youtube and facebook, but none of it's where it needs to be. Largely because I was taking a hit and miss approach with social media. I've read other books on social media for business, but most of them are incorrectly focused on the 'how to post' type of details, instead of the business strategy and context tactics that are needed. And that's where Gitomer's book really shines, is helping set the tone for how much time to spend, what types of roles the various social media can play in leveraging your brand, your value-add perception to others, and the rest of the ingredients of success.Gitomer has been a role model for me for a decade+ (particularly in sales and in video presentation skills), he just keeps getting better with time, and this book is well worth getting for all business professionals who want to learn how to use social media successfully.
