Sailor Moon as a story: If you've read the first 6 books, obviously you'll want to finish them! Do not read these without reading the first ones. It is not a story you can just jump into.Translation: FINALLY! Why did it take until 2013 for a reasonably good translation that stays as true as possible to the original?! There are some parts where the translation reads a little odd, but it makes enough sense. I also really appreciate that the translators wrote Translation Notes for each book, where they explain the different ways they could have translated a word or explain the full meaning of something. Naoko used quite a few puns that only make sense in Japanese, and those puns are explained well (such as Tin Nyanko's entire name being a giant pun.)Quality: Many people complain that the paper quality is not as good as the individually published books. This is true, but in all honestly, it's not a big deal! The pages are not flimsy, they're just not as strong as the individually published books. Yes, the books are also slightly smaller. If superior quality is what you care about, then buy them individually. If you just want an economical way to buy the entire Sailor Moon manga, then buy this set! The only complaint I have is that there were a few pages where the print job was obviously lacking to some degree, because if you looked really close you could see faint detail that should have come through a lot better.This version compared to 90's Tokyo Pop/ Mixx Comix translation:Mixx Westernized the series as much as possible. They took out all the Japanese (even faint Japanese on building signs in the background.) They flipped all the art so you could read the story from right to left, like a normal English book, where as Japanese reads the opposite (left to right.) They gave all the characters the same names as the Canadian dub of the Sailor Moon Anime did (they did not have a habit of doing this with other series, like Magic Knight Rayearth, where the Anime dub left the character's names the same.) Basically, long story short, Mixx copied the English dub perfectly, and the English Dub drastically changed the Anime. While the quality of Mixx Sailor Moon comics were quite good (my books still are in great condition after 15 years and the art doesn't look photo copied,) they're not enjoyable to read. Kodansha didn't do anything to "Westernize" the manga, except translate the actual words. Whenever there is background noise spelled out, it's still in Japanese. You read the story from right to left, like the Japanese books. The names were not changed. The story was not altered to be more "kid-friendly." This is Sailor Moon left untouched, except for the words that were translated.Any fan of the series, even if they haven't read or watched it for years, will love Kodansha's translation!

As I've said on volumes 1-6, this set is definitely worth having, and I don't regret the price or owning the entire collection.Let me just start by saying the art box encasing the 6 volumes is as very beautifully done as the first set, and the pictures the two form together make me thrilled beyond belief. Honestly, as silly as it sounds, I love how they look sitting side-by-side on my shelf.As I said before on the previous box set, the manga itself is perhaps the best English version I've encountered to date. None of the names have been translated or Anglicized, and everything stays true to the original feel of the original Japanese manga. The manga still contains its bonus content as well, so absolutely nothing was shortchanged or skimmed in re-releasing these volumes. Of course, the manga art and story are as amazing as they ever were. The paper and books themselves feel like the quality of your average manga, so I don't feel as though anything was cheaply made or shortchanged.This is the absolute best English version of the manga I've come across so far and I'm thrilled to add it to my library as a now-completed set!

This set was released in October and i bought just now for almost half the price. Now as I read it, it has all aspects of the Japanese version! Pros were:1) Reads as an authentic manga, and if you flip back to the back cover, it warns you that you are reading it wrong so that you don't spoil it for yourself!2) Has all Japanese phonetics like -sama, -chan, etc. These are all explained carefully at the end, and explains why they are used. Very helpful!3) has previews of the next book IN ENGLISH!!! Once you finish reading, it gives you a preview of the next book and then it has ads at the back of the book.4) Comes with adorable stickers with chibi versions of the front covers of each book!5) All the books have special paper in the front with amazing art, and has a table of contents(sometimes a spoiler alert)Cons:1) none, really....This is a must get series and definitely worth reading! If you haven't bought set 1, then you should. It's a series that you shouldn't read the second set of books until you have finished the first. Other than that, great series and a must have for any Moonie!!

But most are the common ones we have and see in north America everyday, Japanese books are completely different and are very well translated, I will continue to look at other magnas and see what else is out ther for me read. the product was all I expected, the final 6 volumes, and the completed artwork of both boxes and the completed storyline of sailor moon until the very end.

Awesome manga box set!Other reviewers mentioned the ink would transfer to the reader's fingers, bit I didn't have that problem.My only issue was the packaging of the shipment. The box was entirely too large for the box sets and was slightly damaged in transit. Not a major issue for a set that I purchased for myself to read, but would be a real problem if it were a gift or something I wanted to save as a keepsake.-J

Enjoyed reading Takeuchi's classic, I read the majority of it in one sitting came with stickers, in a decorated box set to hold the volumes. Had interesting extras in the back of the volumes. Was worth more than buying one at a time. Keep on reading it and loved every page.

Fascinating personal history of rugby and great stories. Loved the book. I would recommend it to anyone that loves rugby.

US Rugby Legend Dave Stephenson has just published his memoir, Rugby Stories and other misadventures. It is for sale online at [...] and I recommend the read because so much of it is focused on Santa Monica's early days which coincided with the resurgence of the Eagles, a team that he and many of the Santa Monica originals populated. I read it in two sittings, only 149 pages. Dave has an easy style that makes it feel like somebody is telling you their life story while you sit by a fire.The story begins in England, where Dave is from, and we follow his early introduction to rugby at Dulwich College where he was a scholarship student. Dave's natural speed, creativity, and ball playing ability made him a rugby stand out. Dave's dad then uprooted the family when Dave was a teenager and brought them to Inglewood, California in the early 60's. The description of LA at that time is worth the read from a historical perspective. In between there was another family move to Darwin, Australian as his dad was ready to try his luck wherever he could secure work, and then back in LA when things didn't pan out. It wasn't easy on the family or Dave.When it was time for college Dave was accepted into Georgetown, but he wasn't able to go for financial reasons and he stayed at home and commuted to UCLA. And that is where it all came together with a band of current UCLA football players (at that time football players were encouraged to play rugby to stay in shape) and others, several expats who already knew the game, including Bobby Thrussell and future SMRC Legendary coach, Ron Nisbet, and many of the other SMRC Originals you can see at the SMRC Hall of Fame site [...]UCLA went on to form the SMRC in 1972 and Dave and his Merry Band continued to dominate rugby in the US through the 70's. They toured with the US Eagles and the California Cougars and they were rock stars wherever they went and partied like it. They played the best teams in Australia and the UK, beat many of them, met the locals and rocked that too.While commitment to rugby came naturally to Dave, commitment in other areas of his life was a work in process and is something that evolved after injury forced Dave's rugby retirement. His pursuits in teaching, photography, business, and love became more focused, but like most of us, Dave continued to fight battles, for him mostly internal and likely a result of his childhood, and at the end you get to know somebody who has finally come to terms with who he is.So there is still hope for the rest of us.Enjoy the read. Throughly enjoyed this read it was entertaining informative and humorous. The inside knowledge of the author was facinating. The pace was just right to keep the reader hooked. The words of wisdom intertwinned with the story gave the reader pause for thought. I would not hesitate in recommending this book to essentially sport lovers but non sport lovers would also enjoy this entertaining read.

Truth be known, I got to play the great game with David Stephenson in the 1970's - what a time for American rugby. So its no wonder that I bought the book and poured through the pages with great fondness. Oh to be young again...Every team David played with from UCLA to Santa Monica to the US Eagles was much better because he was a teacher at heart. He took his rugby wisdom and skills and shared it all with the rest of us. If you ever played in the same back line with David, or played against him, you know exactly what I mean.I didn't think anyone could capture the heart and soul of rugby in the US during that time quite so well - it was fresh, dynamic and magical. Somehow, that wonderful passage will bless the rest of my days. If you weren't in the mix then, there's still hope - buy the book and settle in for a good read because as usual, David shines. He's still a star!

Nice, colorful guide to recycling. Even though it's not "new", it remains factually accurate. It is easy to read and the tone is informational, not preachy. One of my go-to "green" guides. (If this review was helpful for you, please give it a "thumbs up" below, thanks!)

This is an excellent book about recycling. If I had to read only one book to kids about recycling, this is the one I would choose. It is fun and has great pictures that really help you visualize the details of recycling. It is packed with information that is presented in a manner that makes it entertaining and easy to digest. Kindergarten and up will understand it, but for the younger kids, you will need to read just a few pages at a time, while discussing what you've read.

Our household loves Gail Gibbons' nonfiction kids books! They have great illustrations, diagrams, charts, etc. These books can appeal to both young (~3yo) and older children. It inspired by 3yo daughter to begin recycling.

As a teacher, I bought this for my class to read. It was a great book to add to my recycling unit! I would recommend for anyone who has children interested in recycling! Gail Gibbons books are always great!

Gail Gibbons has yet again wrote a wonderful book! The illustrations are beautifully drawn and the captions add a lot to the story. This books gets students excited to help our Earth!

I bought this book to help me put on a presentation on recycling to a cub scout den. Age group- first grade. I loved the book! I found it very informative and motivating. It touched on all the highlights of recycling. Even included info on landfills. It was presented in a format that a child could easily understand. I read it to my son. He didn't complain, but he loves books, and it really doesn't matter what you read to him.The day came for my presentation. As soon as I started reading the book to the den, I saw the look of boredom across all their faces (There were 6 of them). I think had they been at least in the third grade, it would have gone much better.

Excellent addition to my Non-Fiction collection of Gail Gibbons books. I am very satisfied with the product and the seller.

This was a great book. I enjoyed it and also purchased one as a gift for a friend. I would reccommend it.

Buckminster Fuller, obviously, is a very intelligent person. His engineering and creativity throughout his life was amazing.Unfortunately, like Marshall McLuhan he has a need to use very long words when short, simple words would be better. This makes reading the book harder (and much longer). Being an academic I often find this with doctoral students -- they are insecure and think big words will make them appear smarter; It doesn't work.Maybe I just miss Ernest Hemingway!

There is a lot of meat in that potato. Anyone who is in business, finance, or stock investing should read this book. You will really gain an understanding not taught in school or learned in experience. To this you know all that is in this book would be a MISTAKE. I have held the highest security licence in the country, but this book taught me new information I wish I'd known 25 years ago. Just buy it if you fit the description above. Otherwise, unless you are a historian it might not be of much interest, and too hard of a read if the subject is not of interst. For those who should read it, it's hard to put down.

This was a short quick read into the mind and ideals of the late great Buckminster Fuller. This is definitely one of the best books I've ever read. It causes you to think on many levels simultaneously. From the rarley used words he so eloquently chooses to his radical yet evolutionarily sound and hopefully inevitable vision of an earth populated with billions of people living in abundance in tune with mama nature. This is an inspirational read for anybody even remotely interested in science and humanity in general. Buckminster Fuller saw right through the political-money elite schemes of our era and plainly points out easy to implement remedies for solving many of humanity's current problems and some future ones as well. Quite possibly the most important book I've ever read. I'm inspired to make positive change in the universe, hopefully you are too.

I think the book is really a comprehensive accounts of human history. it teaches how we got in our present complex situation. the book does not suggest what to do in a complex economy. however, every lines you read mean something between the lines. what i like the most is that you can have some other readings like its company the critical path. you can put down the book and think it through and figure out the fragmented dots or pieces from other readings. you can relate it with today's headlines. the books seems to show some patterns and emergent trends.one thing also for a newcomer of the books of bukcminster-it needs to be read reflectively, because it is too scholarly. when one is used with the jargons, one can actually read it fast.perhaps repeated readings will make one understand it more. it's true...that it is more of a book on conspiracy. how the naive were cheated....many times not just many times but for a lifetime.THE GOOD WITH THIS CONSPIRACY IS THAT IT WAS TOO SUBTLE...THATEVEN THE BRILLIANT ARE UNAWARE OF IT. even the presidents and the congress are pawns in a chessboard! it's realy shows the GROSS UNIVERSE CASH HEIST!that's why it is five star!

About the Author

Joel Fuhrman M.D. is a board-certified family physician, best-selling author and nutritional researcher who specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods. This book is awesome. It really opens your mind to how important good eating habits in childhood are. To all those people out there who think there is nothing wrong with loading kids up on diary and meat and junk food, this book demonstrates by reliance on peer-reviewed scientific literature that such a course of action is setting the stage for the later development, during adulthood, of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune disease. There are those out there that cling tenaciously to the standard American diet, heavy on junk food, meat, and diary, and processed factory foods. But the evidence shows that such an approach is deleterious to human health. This book will change the lives of your children well into adulthood. Buy it; read it; and implement it.

This book is excellent! I already know a lot about the benefits of a plant based diet, and I learned even more by reading this book! He gives a very good reason "why" to step aside from the SAD diet and provide healthy, REAL foods for our children.I do wish Dr Fuhrman would publish an updated version, as some of the book is a bit outdated (published in 2006). For instance, he states that peanuts should not be given to children under the age of two- an old guideline that has been debunked by current research.There is also no mention of GMO's and he advocates soy milk and tofu quite a bit which most current health experts do not.However, this book is a great read and offers many good reasons to switch to a healthy plant based diet!If only all pediatricians focused on what our children eat!!!

This book was the pivoting point to change my family's eating habits and got us further steps closer to a healthy life.I have been reading and digesting books, articles, videos about healthy living: diet, exercise, chemical exposure etc. to keep our family safe and healthy. There is so much conflicting information and it gets very overwhelming to decide what is truth and what works?Finally with his book, everything became clear and the solution to healthy diet presented itself so clearly. We are as a family still not perfect but we try hard to get most of our calories from plant based foods. I stopped buying butter, cheese and milk. We stopped eating chicken, red meat and fish, only occasionally.That means a lot of green smoothies, all kinds of vegetables raw and cooked (steam mostly), nut butters, Ezekiel bread, water.Just in 3-4 weeks I noticed:- I'm not bloated, my tummy doesn't get bigger and bigger as the day goes on.- I don't get cravings after dinner to eat something starchy and sweet.- I'm always full but never stuffed or starved.- I have more energy in general.- The kids (I have young kids) get over their runny noses quickly without becoming sick.I started mentioning and recommending this book to many friends. Also to my family. It turned out that the book that changed my sister's life (she became a functional vegan and lost like 25 pounds and kept is for the past 2+ years) was also Dr.Fuhrman's book - Eat to Live.If you are one that enjoys his/her comfort foods a lot and finds it very hard to change habits in general, this book will not work for you. But for anyone who is looking to make a positive change, it is life changing.- The k

Love this book.Yes...it will be stressful having those dinner/food time discussion with your children if you just throw a big plate of veggies at them and never let them eat a fast food meal again...I read other reviews that said it was not a good book because there is no way their kids would go along with this. I believe it is my responsibility, as a parent, to lay a good foundation now, in all areas, regardless of how hard it is to do.I know that making small changes, over time will do the trick and the kids will never know what hit them! Not too long after presenting more veggies and fruit as options instead of processed food/snacks my child asked for fruit instead...it was a pleasing shocker. Even better, I see the food choice trending in a whole foods direction and that keeps me motivated!I have first hand experience with curing illnesses with nutrition and I know that the information presented here is good, solid advice. I have most of Dr. Fuhrman's books and I recommend them all.The book is well written. Presented in an organized fashion and easy to understand.

My 12-month-old son kept getting sick from daycare so I started implementing some of Dr. Fuhrman's principles in his diet, mainly adding a lot of green veggies and healthy fats. He gets a daily green smoothie and he loves it. It's been a few weeks and he hasn't gotten sick again but it's too early to tell if it really works, however it can't hurt to eat more veggies. Most of all, it made us all eat healthier as a family and be more conscious about what we put in our body.

I’m halfway through this book and I can’t help think that I should’ve been able to see this before getting pregnant with our first child.Basically this book tells us that disease-proofing the next generation is not simply medicating or giving them supplements. It starts way way before. Probably in our own childhood or from the precious generation. And our gastronomical choices will have a lot to do with it.I highly recommend this book 👍🏻

An amazing book. Don't get fooled by it being a few years old, if it were up to me it would be required reading in schools because its so factual and believable. Dr. Fuhrman proves that he has honest, fundamental science on his side and not trendy gimmicks. He cuts right to the chase on what you need to know about children's nutrition and its all so very 21st century and heartfelt. I believe in what he says so much that i not only follow his nutritional advice but feel the urge to spread his knowledge to others as well, even though he doesnt have a booster/salesman intent or style to him.

This is groundbreaking work on the rise and fall of cities, states and empires straddling both the Niger and Senegal rivers, and it provides a vital understanding of the political, religious and cultural dynamics of the Sahel region generally, beginning with the emergence of urban centers like Jenne Jeno, Gao and Kanem. Best of all, it richly illustrates how West Africa, with its dense trade networks, of salt, gold and slaves, and its ambitions for exploration and power, was anything but some isolated tabula rasa in the centuries preceding the 15th century arrival of the Portuguese. It is frustratingly hard to read in patches, blending truly formidable scholarship with excessive wordiness. But for anyone interested in this era in African or indeed in global history, well worth the effort. Gomez reputation as a leading scholar of Africa and its diaspora is richly deserved. Btw, his Exchanging our Country Masks: The Transformation of African Identities in the Colonial and Antebellum South, is another work of high scholarship.

This is a very comprehensive work on medieval Africa, a topic that is seriously understudied. The author is extremely intelligent and knows what he’s talking about, perhaps too much so. This is clearly not an introductory text, as the author uses highly technical Islamic terms with little explanation, and he goes into detail on the sources he uses. The text is rather dry, so I would not recommend this for lay reading. It would probably serve better for graduate students in a course on the subject. Nevertheless, if you are serious about the subject, this is an excellent source of information.

First of all, I can't believe that I am writing the first customer review of this absolutely outstanding work. I've just passed page 210 and it is by far one of the most thorough history texts I have ever read. I'll come back to flesh out the review when I have finished but I wanted to do the author a solid and give him a review. This has to be the most comprehensive history of West Africa ever written. The way Gomez interrogates and utilizes the source material is astounding. Extracting value from Griots, Arab travelers and domestic historians presents an extremely detailed and yet also nuanced picture of West Africa before European contact. How this is not at the top of the Amazon ratings given the recent success of Black Panther I don't understand. If looking at fictional Wakanda made you curious about historical African Empires I can't think of a better work.
