Oh my goodness. Didn't think I would be able to understand this. Kinda deep. Only on page 42 and I am so excited. It hurts but it feels so good. Good writing. I have to reread sometimes. I get it though. Can't wait to read it all so I can read it again. I thought everyone could live a perfect life but me. God must have had me in mind when he inspired you to write this book. So much insight ......... all the way to the last chapter. Not done yet. Hate for it to be over. One minute I'm ready to stand and cheer and the next, I'm crying. Man, this is a good book. This is a good book.

So often we are told that we need to say no to sin. We try and develop a habit of saying no to sin, but David Bowden says that we're doing it all wrong. Christianity is not about saying no to sin. Christianity is about loving God with all that we have. When He is the center of our affections, our desire to sin is diminished. Let's change how we handle sin. Read this book to help see how we can do that.

I am just blown away by this book. Itâ€™s not a touchy-feely book. Itâ€™s rock solid biblically. It is hard to read in that it is really forcing me to look at and confront the root causes of some long-standing sin in my life. I have read book after book and been to seminar after seminar trying to learn practical, meaningful ways to make biblical life change, to no avail. Just 3 chapters into this book I have changed the way I read the Bible, the way I pray, the way I make decisions, etc. I have already ordered two more books to give to my son, who is a youth pastor, and his ministry assistant. To be able to hear the insights into why we sin and solid biblical practices to change the affections of the heart will be of immeasurable value to the students he pastors. Buy this book, read it, highlight it, make notes in it. Read it again. Itâ€™s that good.

I am only in the 3rd chapter so far and I am finding it to be a good book... shifting the way I look at sin and my relationship with Christ! Recommend to anyone!

Guilt. Fear. Shame. All tools used by Satan and others to control me and my behavior...all tools which put me at the top of my list, in place of God. David describes how this happens, and then points to the antidote. I can feel these emotions already losing their grip on me. No spoiler alerts here. Read this book if you are tired of the battle.

This is profoundly helpful in understanding our sin and salvation. His presentation of the gospel and explanation of our emotions and affections is clarifying and helps identify tendencies of sin. But most importantly he directs you to Christâ€™s finished sacrificial work for us as a remedy for our vacuous hearts. Not a how to, but a healing, therapeutic gospel presentation.

Can you take a punch? I hope so because this book is a punch in the gut. Do you believe GODs word? After reading 3 chapters of this book I came to the honest, painful, and humble conclusion that I had many areas of unbelief in His word that where leading me into sin. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is searching for freedom. Because this book shows you the simplicity of the gospel and what Jesus can do in your life if you trust Him.

Half way through and have learned so much! Great insight, not like the spoon fed this or the 12 step that or the "do this, not that" stuff that doesn't work. Behavior modification is not the answer and this book will get you going in the right direction.

Stardust is the second of this kind of book I have recently read (The Stardust Revolution by Berkowitz is the other). Stardust is an excellent, fascinating, and superbly written book and well worth reading. It is written for anyone interested in astrobiology. I gave it five stars because it was a real mind opener--lots of good material. In a nutshell, the book states that the universe is teaming with complex organic molecules (PAH's, sugars, amino acids, DNA components, etc.)and non-organic silicates-these are the stardust. These molecules can be found in meteorites, in asteroids, on many other planets and on their moons in our solar system, in nebulae, molecular clouds, comets, interstellar space, the Milky Way, and other galaxies. Water has also proven to be abundant and can be found almost anywhere it is searched for. None of this is hypothetical or theoretical, but is experimentally verifiable and is a generally accept fact by astrobiologists and other scientists.These complex organic molecules(minerals and elements as well)are being manufactured in the outer atmospheres of red giant stars (planetary nebulae-AGB's) and in novae and they are being produced in massive quantities. The author also indicates that this process has been going on for billions of years before our sun was born. Organic molecules and silicates are being circulated throughout the universe by a variety of mechanisms including meteoroids, asteroids, stellar winds, comets, and super-novae explosions. Biomolecules/organics are literally seeding earth and other planets/moons in our solar system as well as those bodies in other stellar systems.Kwok also discusses the history and development of the astronomical tools which were used to uncover the above findings. The three most important such tools include molecular spectroscopy,radio astronomy,and infrared astronomy; there is really some good info in this section of the material. I am reading this book for the second time. By the way, the other book mentioned above is also very good.You will have to read Stardust to get the exciting details. What Kwok has to say makes life in the universe look like a sure thing. Add to the findings in this book NASA's recent estimate of 144 billion earth-like habitable planets in our galaxy alone, and you have a recipe for numerous worlds with life.Rich

This book is excellent and very timely in explaining news coming from NASA about the Curiosity rover on Mars.The " Big Three " conditions needed for life to start are a liquid medium (usually water), an energy source, andorganic molecules. The first two have been confirmed multiple times on Mars by scientists, but we have yet to findthe third. We know they have arrived on the surface in the billions of tons over the eons, and this book explainsthe sources of those organic molecules. Harsh conditions on Mars may have destroyed most of these molecules,but if we are lucky, Curiosity may find traces inside of rocks or in protected niches.Much of the contents of this book will be very new and exciting to the average scientifically-oriented person.

The origin of life has been debated for as long as our existence. Most literatures treat this as a remote topic and such approach makes it extremely difficult for the layman. I am very glad that the author has chosen to put forward this difficult subject in such approach that, I believe, most of us can readily understand.In each chapter of Stardust: The Cosmic Seeds of Life, the author starts by drawing our attention to daily life experiences which are related to what comes next, before going into his main topic. It is this approach that makes the book interesting to read.Then, at the end of each chapter, the author put up a brief summary of the essential points before challenging the reader with several "problems". These problems serve to trigger the reader to think much deeper, rather than simply "swallow" what is taught from the contents. From my feeling, this section makes this books stand out from others, and vividly demonstrates that the author is not just an authoritive expert on this subject, but also an experienced educationist. To quote W.B Yeats "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire". The author will certainly light a fire in many of his readers to pursue this new and exciting subject.

Rachel has a way with words and feelings that make you at times want to hug her and other times want to BE her. It's the joys and pain and all the relatable struggles that nobody talks about finally given voice through perfect prose. This is very necessary. Rachel Willey is life!

I read this the night that I got it and stayed up until I finished it. It was perfection. I even read one of the poems to a few of my friends on Snapchat. I am in love with this poetry book. Rachel Wiley is a phenomenal poet.

I'm a huge fan of Rachel Wiley's spoken word videos. There is so much passion in them I was afraid her book would fall flat but I was wrong. Being able to read the poems myself allowed me to savor every beautiful word and emotion. If you are a woman, an outsider, or existing between you want this book!

I devoured this book as soon as it arrived and found myself marking, re-reading, and highlighting so many things. It really resonated with me and I could relate to so much of it, but it also painted a vivid picture of someone that I don't know personally, and I love reading other people's stories and perspectives. I usually don't read a ton of poetry, but was drawn toward this book from social media links and am glad that I bought it.

There is something relatable for everyone. â€œHalloween shopping with my nieceâ€ inspired a hilarious conversation with my 6 year old daughter on â€œthe Patriarchyâ€. Her depth in just a few quick stanzas is not only impressive itâ€™s inspiring. Be yourself unapologetically and take sh*t from no one.

Rachel Wiley's poetry is simply amazing.She is sharp, blunt, even harsh when needed, and I can guarantee that you will find at least one or two poems you can totally relate to (but probably much more than that). First off, I play a 12-string acoustic electric and am more of a strummer than a picker. Due to some hand injuries, I am limited in the keys I can play, so bar chords are out and reaching to play some of the more difficult chords is simply not going to happen. I play mostly, in the major chords like G, C and D. I love Celtic music, but playing it was near impossible until I found this most excellent Fake Book. I can now easily play the songs I enjoy listening too. So if you're like me, have a limited chord repertoire and love celtic music, then this is the book for you.

I am a professional musician. Occasionally my friends and I like to get together and play different types of music for fun. These fake books are great for that and the Celtic one in particular is very nice. It give contents alphabetically and by region (Irish, Scottish, etc.) Anyone who plays a C instrument can play along and there are chord symbols as well as melody line and verses. There are tons of tunes in here including very popular ones as well as ones that aren't as common. This book is a great value for the price if you are looking to have a little fun with Celtic music and have it on hand in case you need it.

The book is great and I give it five stars. I love the songs, but I wish I had bought the hard copy. My issue is really with Kindle--I wanted the digital copy to put on my tablet and play from my music stand, but you can't enlarge or zoom the sheet music because it isn't text. What is normally an 8.5" x11" sheet music only measures 4.5"x6" wide on my 14" tablet in portrait mode. I would guess the lyrics to be in font size 6, which is way, way too small to read on a music stand an arm's length away. For my purposes, buying any sheet music through Kindle doesn't work. But the hard copy on the music stand would have been great!Addendum: I just read the reviews of people who bought the hard copy--I didn't realize it also was too small to read from a music stand. I have reduced the stars from 4 to 2.

I lost all my music, which had quite a bit of Irish music, in our house fire a few years ago. This has quite a few songs that I can relearn for St Patrick's Day and just to relive my Irish heritage.

This book has so beautiful simple tunes, with melody lines and chords up above it. I really enjoyed playing through it and recording on my violin to listen back later.

I just got this book and I can't believe how many songs there are. They are also listed by their nationality (Irish, Scottish, Welsh). I play a little guitar and I was looking for an Irish song book I could just play the chords with. This book has simple chord charts in the back and tells you which to play during the song. It doesn't give any type of strumming pattern, which would be helpful for me the beginner, it shows just the melody notations. Being in the SCA, it's nice to have so many traditional songs at my fingertips. It also DOES give a few instrumental pieces, the ubiquitous "Irish Washerwoman" being one of them. I would have liked to have seen a little bit about each song, although I know this is not a history book, but would have settled for a general time frame each song was created in. Other than that, a wonderful resource.

Great resource. This will keep me busy for months!ðŸ˜

This was just what I needed to jump-start my folk harp repertoire. It's a great starting point for custom arranging traditional music, much easier than trying to adapt piano music.

This textbook is OK at best. It does explain the chapters pretty well, but the examples suck. The author keeps jumping around and then just assumes we know what exactly happens when he gets an answer. There are better Fluids books out there.

Easy to read book. I felt kind of dumb at work because it doesn't cover "Supply Pressure Effect" but that's specific to regulator design. This is the "fundamentals" after all and I'm just a peasant intern :)

It's a textbook, no one likes textbooks, but it's easy to follow and well written, very good for mandatory books for class.

Anya Davidson is my new favorite find. Get all her stuff, she's really fantastic. Band for Life is a wonderfully unique take on what it's like being in a band, from being a door mat baboon to a single, alcoholic space mom. The colors are vivid, the line work is fun and zany (reminds me of the zanier early Love and Rockets), and the stories are funny and emotionally relatable. I super liked this book and I bought it on a whim because it looked cool. Pretty much anything I've ever got from Fantagraphics is going to be good.

Do not go into this book expecting a well told story, hell, don't even expect a full story. Band for life is very much character-driven and at times acts solely as a mouthpiece for Davidson and her views which does add a depth to book but ultimately it's an almost plotless slog which really depends on you liking the characters to enjoy. It's at times very humorous but mainly I found it meandering, with myself only caring about half the cast also the rather abrupt ending really soured me on it some more. However the cartooning is quite good (even if having an amateurish look that might make people wary) which does bump it up for me. Davidson has a very unique style and I've already purchased her most recent book from Retrofit. I really wanted to enjoy the writing of this book but as with quite a few of her contemporaries it lacks the cohesion to make it something well rounded and feels more like everything was made up on the fly, something that makes it feel more hollow than it should be.

This book is a treasure. Huge, full-color punk comics about the ongoing adventures of a maybe-ok band called GUNTIT. Hilarious, poignant, and beautifully drawn, Anya Davidson's work is a huge inspiration. This book is the antidote I was looking for to macho and depressing depictions of punk - the punk in Anya's comics is where I want to live. Must-buy.
