Brad Thor is the master at taking and making a character into someone you want to know more about. I enjoy the Scott Harvath series even though there is always parts in each book that he repeats the story of the character which I've leaned to scan over along with the Tom Clancy's themed long winded explanations of the detailed description of each firearm each bomb and so on. I get it, it makes more pages and if your a first time reader it's enjoyable the first or second time you read through it. It gets real old when your into the 8th on up book in the series. If you like this series please look into Victor the assassin by Tom Wood, excellent writing and fast paced.
Let me say that I have read all of Brad Thor's books with the exception of 2. ALL, I repeat all are fantastic. When I finish one I go to the next. My husband and I both read all of of Vince Flynn novels too. They both write riveting, exciting, and true to life books. I can't put them down. I would recommend trying to read them in chronological order if possible. Then you can get a sense of where Scot Harvath is in his life. Even though these books are fiction, they make you wonder if this is really going on. If so, I'm glad to know it. Bless those black ops, CIA and clandestine operatives. They are the ones who are protecting us in real life. FANTASTIC READ !!!!!!!!
Action packed throughout. This one held my interest because the theme seems to match current events. World terrorism exists not just in the US. Seems that, no matter how much some media wish to portray the US as a perpertrator, the issue revolves around Muslim extremists, who cannot maintain peace even amongst themselves. This sounds like a political viewpoint, but there comes a point when one must accept that this is a worldwide problem that won't go away by just ignoring the issues.The author tells a good tale and has done his research well. The outcome was not as peaceful as I might have imagined. Therefore I give kudos for the reality portrayed bythe writer. A good substantial read.
Thor has a high level of angst and awe associated with Islamic terrorism, and he is at least partly correct. He points out the flaw in our behavior of dealing with our enemies with a set of western principles that they would never use with us. His heroes are reasonably human and his bad-guys are intelligent. He has no problems dealing with global conflicts. This book drew me in and drove me to buy and read the sequel. I like Thor's writing style and the way he moves the action. My one reservation is that if the terrorists are as far ahead of us as he describes we have already lost. Thanks to the heroes of his books Western Civilization lives on to fight another day.
Second time I have read this book after a year and it was totally new again. Brad Thor ALWAYS tells a great story that you can't put down. I have read all the Scott Harvath stories twice and they never get old. Hurry Mr.Thor, I need more new Scott Harvath books!!!!
